Nicolas R. De La Pena, MD, attended the University of The Philippines Manila College of Medicine, and received his medical degree in 1989. During his internship and residency conducted at The Philippine General Hospital (UP - PGH), he was named Outstanding Intern and Outstanding Resident and was also nominated for the Park Davis Award. Furthermore, Dr. De La Pena relocated to the United States where he conducted his internal medicine residency and served as Chief Resident at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY (1994-1998). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in infectious disease medicine at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn (1998-2000), and an AIDS fellowship at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in New York. Dr. De La Pena received board certification in internal medicine and infectious disease medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member in good standing with the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the New York Medical Society, and the Allegheny Medical Society.
