  • Cardiac arrest and brain function

First I’m very sorry to hear about your girlfriend. To answer your question it is almost impossible to give you a good answer. Brain function is very complex and is usually assessed with multiple tests as well as daily exams. Her doctors no doubt have ordered CT scans, MRIs and probably an EEG. Based on these findings and her exam they are best able to answer your questions. READ MORE

  • Heart pause?

Your Fitbit monitor does show an irregular rhythm but it is difficult to determine exactly what it is. I would recommend seeing a cardiologist for a more detailed examination and further testing. READ MORE

  • The right side of my chest is hurting

There are many causes of chest pain and not all involve the heart. Your best bet is to see your family doctor for an exam and possible testing. If you don’t want to wait or the pain is very severe then a trip to the emergency room may be indicated. READ MORE

  • Should I take medications after stent surgery?

Yes. Your cardiologist may have made adjustments to your medications for very specific reasons. You should take these medications exactly as prescribed. If you have questions about them contact you physician for full instructions. READ MORE

  • Can you fix high blood pressure without medications?

Sometimes and fix is not a good term. Better would be control because high blood pressure is a life long medical problem. Reducing salt intake is the first step. For those who are highly motivated there is a diet specifically for controlling blood pressure called the “DASH” diet and I encourage you to look it up. For more detailed instructions speak with your physician. READ MORE
