Get to know Invasive Cardiologist Dr. Erica Pivato, who serves patients in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Dr. Pivato is an invasive cardiologist at Edgewood Heart & Vascular Institute – St. Elizabeth Physicians in Edgewood, Kentucky. 

Focusing on women-driven outcomes and modifications to improve female care, she takes a whole-person approach to cardiac care and encourages her patients to build healthy habits as the primary way to prevent cardiovascular disease. 

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Pivato graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. She then went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center, and her fellowship in cardiology at the University of Cincinnati.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

Licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky and Ohio, Dr. Pivato is affiliated with St. Elizabeth Covington Hospital, St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas Hospital, MetroHealth Medical Center, Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kettering Health Main Campus, and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

When not caring for patients, Dr. Pivato is a busy mom to four beautiful children and when time allows, she enjoys staying active, especially dancing.
