  • How does a chiropractor adjust your foot?

Your feet are the foundation from which we navigate the universe. There are 10s of thousands of pounds of pressure on them every day. Natural movement within your feet includes an intricate combination of locks and keys, supports and levers. We receive an enormous amount of neurologic feedback via specialized nerve endings called mechanoreceptors as well as the tensegrity of our fascia. Much like any other part of the body, before any adjustments are performed, we must perform a thorough history followed by a detailed muscle, neurologic and orthopedic analysis. Generally, adjustments are only made where there is hypomobility or some other neurologically unfacilitated segment. To do this we may use our hands or specialized instruments. Once performed, it is important to retest and confirm the adjustments were adequate. Here is a short video providing some additional insight: https://youtu.be/MkAnAVSRK7k READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with dislocated rib?

In short - YES. Ribs have articulations just like any other joint complex that a chiropractor may address. This would include a proper history taking, followed by the appropriate muscle, neurologic and orthopedic evaluation to identify which segment(s) are fixated or unfacilitated. Any adjustments that may be performed would be based on the findings and the absence of any contraindications. These adjustments may be made either manually or with an instrument and often provide immediate lasting relief. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with drop foot?

There are various reasons for foot drop, but all have a common thread of altered neurologic communication between the brain the foot. As doctors who specialize in the nerve system, chiropractors are especially well suited to address conditions like food drop. READ MORE

  • How long after a chiropractic adjustment do you feel better?

For most people, immediately after the adjustment, they start to feel better. There are many ways in which feeling better may manifest. The research shows and clinically we find a decrease in range of motion (ROM) before someone experiences pain. On the way out, there is typically an increase in ROM before the pain is fully resolved. Therefore, people may feel some relief, the ability to do more, and return to normal activities immediately, although the pain/soreness may linger a bit. This has to do with the type of nerve fibers used to transmit pain and how it manifests. READ MORE

  • Can a misaligned neck cause vertigo?

Yes. Essentially there are feedback loops in our nerve systems that require checks and balances to be equal. Misalignments are a leading cause of an alteration of communication from the body back to the brain and from the brain to the body. These alterations may result in a variety of things, notably including vertigo-like symptoms. If you are concerned about the possibility of this, it would be wise to see a specialist who addresses the proper positioning of these bones and the communication of the nerve system. READ MORE

  • Back Pain

There are 3 primary reasons for what we call a subluxation and can lead to pain. 1) Thoughts 2) Traumas 3) Toxins Looking at this more closely, when someone is sad, depressed, angry, etc. it is common that we will also experience some pain or discomfort in our body. Technically, this relates to what is formally called psychosomatic and somatopsychic. Most of us have had the experience of bumping our knee, elbow or another body part and subsequently have some pain or soreness. Additionally, when someone eats spoiled or rotting food we will experience some pain. If you have been sick, your body is working overtime to help you heal efficiently and thoroughly. There are a bunch of byproducts of this process and if not cleared rapidly, we may experience some pain. While the pain may resolve on its own, it is wise to go see your local trusted chiropractor to make sure everything is aligned and your nerve system has the best opportunity to heal thoroughly. • How do you realign your knee cap?

Happy Holidays to you. Thank you for posing this question. It is an interesting one, but challenging to answer with such limited information. Knee caps (patellae) are a sesamoid bone facilitating a lever for the movement of the leg and protecting the interarticular surface of the inferior femoral head and the superior tibial head. Given that the knee cap are located within a segment of the quadriceps muscle they only tend to migrate in a limited fashion. With proper orthopedics it is possible to both assess which direction it has migrated and how to unravel this such that there are proper kinematics. Feel free to contact our office so we can schedule an appointment where we can dedicate the time to understand what has been going on to lead to this and provide you the care you deserve to get you back to being your best self.
