As the founder of Vein and vascular center of southern Illinois, his passion for providing patient-centered care aligns seamlessly with the organization’s mission to deliver an exceptional care experience to every individual in an office based (out of hospital) vascular care, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi provides full spectrum of vascular services including carotid surgery and stent to prevent strokes, incisionless minimally invasive aortic aneurysm repair, Dialysis access surgery including angioplasty/stenting, same day in office peripheral arterial circulation procedures including angioplasty/stenting without incisions to restore blood flow to the legs, minimally invasive varicose veins surgery/interventions for leg pain and swelling.
In addition to his role at Vein and vascular center of Southern Illinois, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi holds affiliations with Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL, and Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
A native of the Middle East country, Iraq, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi moved to Ireland, where he graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. Started his surgical training in Dublin and was awarded the intercollegial membership of the royal colleges of surgeons in Ireland and the UK.
He later immigrated to the United States, started his training in surgery at a prestigious institution the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital, and then went on to subspecialize in vascular and endovascular surgery at the NY State University at Buffalo.
Board certified in vascular surgery and general surgery, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
On a professional level, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), and a member of both the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Iraqi Medical Science Association (former Chair of CME committee). His multifaceted expertise and commitment to advancing vascular care make him a distinguished figure in the medical community.

In May of 2017, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi performed the first TransCarotid Artery Revascularization or TCAR procedure in the state of Illinois. This innovative technique minimizes the risk of stroke during carotid procedures by temporarily reversing blood flow and placing a stent for long-term plaque stabilization and stroke prevention.
On a professional level, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), and a member of both the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Iraqi Medical Science Association (former Chair of CME committee). Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.
Among Dr. Al-Zoubaidi’s various accolades include Chief Resident of the Year Award at UTMB in Galveston, Texas 2013, Intercollegiate membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and England (IMRCS) in December 2006, and a Gold Medal in Ophthalmology in Medical School.
A dedicated family man, Dr. Al-Zoubaidi is married with two children, a daughter and son. Outside the realm of medicine, he finds joy in road biking, traveling and learning new cultures, and actively participating in his son’s travel soccer games. Furthermore, he generously invests his free time in educating new doctors on financial literacy and fostering a commitment to patient-centered care.
