Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Steven Levitte, who serves patients in California.

A physician-scientist and gastroenterologist-in-training, Dr. Levitte is currently a Fellow of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. He is also a Clinical Development Fellow at Genentech, an American biotechnology corporation headquartered in South San Francisco, with a focus on developing new therapies for inflammatory bowel disease.

His prior appointments include space operations physician at SpaceX (April 2021 – June 2022), and a visiting research scientist at the University of Cambridge (September 2014 – May 2016). 

Graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Lewis & Clark College in 2010, Dr. Levitte went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington in 2016. 

From there, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2018. He then completed his residency at Stanford University in 2021.

Board-certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Levitte is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The ABP was founded in 1933. It is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
