Originally from Alabama, Dr. Dooley earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, after which he completed an orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
While in Arkansas, he was selected as chief resident and was awarded the Carl L. Nelson Leadership Award. He also completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine and arthroscopy with world-renowned experts at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi and Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Subsequent to his training, the doctor attained board certification in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), Dr. Dooley is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
Happily married, Dr. Dooley and his wife, Melissa, have three sons: Jackson, William, and Matthew. He enjoys snow skiing, exercise/fitness activities, football, hunting, and other outdoor recreational activities with his family.
