Articles and Publications

  • BreatheSuite developed a fully virtual pulmonary rehabilitation program led by doctors of physical therapy and respiratory therapists that a patient can participate in from home; this program incorporates best practices from traditional pulmonary rehab with cardiovascular and resistance exercise, breathing exercises, airway clearance techniques, flexibility, coordination, balance, medication management and education, and monitors progress with a variety of standardized outcome measures, an exercise tolerance test, with remote therapeutic monitoring of the patients vitals response and subjective reports virtually--this allows immuno-compromised patients and patients living outside a reasonable radius from an in-person rehab center to participate without having to leave their home to attend physical therapy. Dr. Nordin works closely with the patient's pulmonologist to provide comprehensive care regarding physical function, oxygen needs, airway clearance needs, medication compliance and has the unique ability to meet these patients virtually in their home setting weekly. The average rehab program length lasts 10-weeks and is completed 100% virtually from home. The virtual pulmonary physical therapy program includes direct evaluation and treatment by DPT, medication management and education by RT, educational modules specific to the patient's chronic lung condition delivered asynchronously online and virtual group sessions attended weekly where they can meet others living with and managing the same lung condition to address the psychosocial aspects to living with a chronic lung condition. Outside of BreatheSuite's program, she participates growing the next generation of physical therapists as an adjunct faculty instructor for Northern Arizona University, Creighton University, and Tufts University.

What do you attribute your success to?

  • "My continual drive and motivation to help people live a fuller life--that's where everything stems from. I have a natural desire to solve problems for people and to make a difference in people's lives, forming a personal relationship with each patient to meet them where they're at and create personalized treatment to better their lives in ways that are meaningful for them. Living with a chronic heart or lung condition can be daunting for most. I love to be able to empower them to understand it better and get back to life."
