Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Maria Patino, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

As an exceptional plastic surgeon, Dr. Patino’s illustrious career spans over 15 years, marked by specialized training and exemplary achievements. She specializes in liposuction, Brazilian butt lifts, abdominoplasties, brachioplasties, and facial cosmetic surgery.  Hailing from Colombia and raised in Venezuela, her  journey into the field of medicine began with a passion for healing and a dedication to academic excellence. 

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela. She also obtained degrees in general surgery, and plastic surgery, establishing herself as a skilled practitioner with a commitment to advancing her craft.

Driven by a desire to serve amidst her country’s humanitarian crisis, Dr. Patino made the courageous decision to relocate to the United States. With unwavering determination, she embarked on fellowship programs in acute burn surgery, burn reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and Microsurgery at Temple University, solidifying her reputation as a distinguished surgeon.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), she holds membership in prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the Texas Medical Association.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.

Outside of the office, Dr. Patino enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, and cycling.
