He holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Narayan specializes in cerebrovascular and cranial Base neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, and stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, thereby providing patients with a comprehensive and personalized approach to the treatment of various neurosurgical diseases.

His clinical affiliations extend to UPMC Neurological Institute, Harrisburg, UPMC Neurological Institute, Williamsport, UPMC Carlisle, UPMC Community General, UPMC Hanover, UPMC Lititz, UPMC Memorial, and UPMC West Shore.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Narayan graduated with honors from the renowned medical school, Government Medical College, Trichur in India. He then completed the neurosurgery residency program at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, an Institute of National Importance (INI), and India’s most prestigious neurosciences institute. 

Building upon his foundation, Dr. Narayan obtained dual Master’s Degrees in Neurosurgery before transitioning to the United States. There, he embarked on a postdoctoral fellowship specializing in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery, as well as neuro-interventional surgery. His training spanned institutions such as Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA, and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and University Hospital in New Jersey.

Further honing his skills, Dr. Narayan completed three prestigious clinical fellowship programs: stereotactic and functional neurosurgery (The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio), interventional neuroradiology (NYU Langone Health and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York) and cerebrovascular neurosurgery (Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital in New York), which are accredited by the Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training (CAST). 

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Narayan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and an International Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Narayan enjoys scientific writing and has authored numerous neurosurgical publications, book chapters, and abstracts. His key research findings were presented at multiple national and international neurosurgical platforms and he has also been invited as faculty at various scientific podiums.  His clinical and translational research productivity can also be found in the National Library of Medicine’s publication database. He has been serving on the editorial boards of various neurological surgery journals and medical book publishers. Dr. Narayan has also been a recipient of multiple awards during his exemplary academic career.
