With an impressive career spanning over three decades, Dr. Dana Brooks stands out as a distinguished small animal veterinary internal medicine specialist. She has a rich background in private specialty practice and over 11+ years of consulting experience at the national veterinary diagnostic laboratory known as Antech Diagnostics. 

As a highly skilled professional, Dr. Brooks is proficient in a wide range of veterinary services, including endoscopy, ultrasound procedures, bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, cytologic interpretation, chemotherapy protocols, and more. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her extensive experience in total parenteral nutrition as well as feeding tube placement and management, showcasing her dedication to providing comprehensive care for her patients.

Academically, Dr. Brooks earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed her residency at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she was recognized as Resident of the Year in 1995. 

Throughout her career, she has remained actively involved in professional organizations such as the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American Veterinary Medical Association, demonstrating her commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration within the veterinary community.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Brooks has been a mentor and educator, training interns during their internal medicine rotations and sharing her knowledge at local veterinary conferences and training sessions. Her dedication to educating both veterinary professionals and pet owners reflects her passion for raising awareness about pet diseases and promoting optimal pet health and well-being.

Named as the 2024 Best in Washington Magazine, Dr. Brooks attributes her success to her profound love and care for animals (her enjoyment of educating interns and owners alike about pet diseases), problem-solving skills, and commitment to continuous learning. 

Leading a fulfilling personal life in Seattle, Dr. Brooks resides on a sailboat with her feline companion, Tugboat. She finds pleasure in sailing and cruising, with a particular fondness for vacationing in destinations such as the San Juan Islands in Washington State and the Gulf Islands in British Columbia.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Brooks is actively involved in the local sailing community and volunteers for charitable organizations such as the University District Food Bank and King County Library System Reading Buddies.
