Marc Washington, MHSc, PA-C is an award-winning general surgery physician assistant practicing in Smithfield, RI. Marc specializes in metabolic weight loss and bariatric surgery qualified by over a decade of demostrated excellence in the field. He is highly experienced in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, having personally first-assisted in over 3,000 weight loss surgeries and helping found a MBS-AQIP Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence in Binghamton, New York. Including endocrine and colorectal as well as general surgery cases, he has assisted in over 5,000 surgical cases to date, including the implantation of the first gastric stimulator in New York State.
Marc sees initial consults, postoperative and office problem visits, and highly adept at bedside treatments including great personal pride in his skill at gastric band adjustments and minimal scarring from his surgical wound closures.
His breadth of experience and skill includes previous award-winning healthcare services in Las Vegas, NV where he earned honored as the Desert Diamond Award winner as well as his professional service recognized in reader polls as Top Bariatric Service and Top Hospital by Las Vegas Magazine two consecutive years.
Upon his relocation to Rhode Island, he was hence rapidly celebrated as a standout provider among the specialty, included as a 2024 Featured Provider by Best in Rhode Island Magazine - Doctor Edition.

He has a Master's in Health Sciences focused in Physician Assistant Studies from Quinnipiac University and has continued to pass on his knowledge in his free time by guest lecturing for the PA Program at Bryant University.

What do you attribute your success to?
- Marc attributes his success to the unwaivering support of his family, including his wife and two bright children, and considers himself blessed that they have been willing to take on whatever adventures he pursues, and wherever they take them next.Marc also credits his family that includes a father who, as a former professional firefighter chief and EMS coordinator, trained paramedics for fire services in his youth. His mother was a longtime instructor in lifeguarding, really getting him his professional start in lifesaving, and active in coordinating volunteer services for the Red Cross.Hed like to thank his older brother for building his character and protecting him in his youth, and his sister and brother-in-law for their selfless support upon the relocation of his family to the area.
