1350 King College Rd Bristol TN, 37620About
Dr Miller is a Board Certified Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with an emphasis and experience in Addiction Medicine and Mental Health. He is a dual graduate of Vanderbilt University, earning both his Master’s of Science in Nursing, leading to his licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider, and his Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership. He originally hails from Upper East Tennessee, where he completed his business undergraduate and graduate degrees from Tusculum College before continuing his educational pursuits in Nursing. Before returning to direct patient care, he has over 25 years of healthcare experience, including as a Nursing Faculty teaching the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners, professional lobbying experience, and C-suite roles nationwide. At the patient’s side, Mark’s experience includes critical care and emergency department nursing, inpatient medically managed detoxification, outpatient recovery and concurrent mental health support, and whole-person care in the mental health residential treatment setting.
During his professional experiences, Mark learned the importance of actively participating in policymaking decisions at the state and federal levels. These experiences led to the focus of his Doctoral project, which focuses on removing practice restrictions for Advanced Practice Providers to make healthcare more accessible for all Tennesseans. In fact, Mark’s research which was the most comprehensive assessment to date in Tennessee, helped him become the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA), Director of Government Affairs, representing Tennessee’s more than 115,000 Registered Nurses and more than 20,000 Advanced Practice Nurses. Mark is also active in his community and serves on numerous Boards and Committees.
