Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Matthew Ostrowitz, who serves patients in Rockville Centre, New York.

An established general surgeon, Dr. Ostrowitz is in practice at Long Island Surgical, PLLC in Rockville Center, New York. His clinical interests include trauma surgery, surgical critical care, and minimally invasive surgery.

Long Island Surgical, PLLC is a patient first healthcare practice. They believe that treating patients with proper bedside manner, and providing time to ask questions and receive answers is key to a low stress environment and proper recovery.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ostrowitz graduated with his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He went on to complete two residencies in general surgery at the Georgetown University Hospital, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2005 and 2008, respectively.

Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery at the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System in 2009, and a fellowship in surgical critical care at the SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital & Medical Center.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

In addition to seeing patients at Long Island Surgical, Dr. Ostrowitz has admitting privileges at Mercy Medical Center, Mount Sinai South Nassau, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.
