Roger G. Skiles, MD, FACS, is a full-time otolaryngologist and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Texas Tech University Paul Foster School of Medicine in El Paso. With an impressive career spanning over 33 years, he is originally from West Texas. Dr. Skiles has earned the esteemed certification from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, solidifying his expertise in the field. Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Skiles has had the privilege of working in both private practice and group practices. Additionally, he has dedicated his time to mentoring medical students, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience. His areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of allergy, nasal, and sinus disorders. Additional areas of expertise include the diagnosis and management of vestibular and balance disturbances, swallowing disorders, voice disorders, sleep-disordered breathing, and hearing loss. Dr. Skiles has extensive experience in treating pediatric ear, nose, and throat disorders.
Driven by his passion for his craft, Dr. Skiles is in the process of establishing an otolaryngology head and neck practice and program at the Paul Foster School of Medicine. This endeavor showcases his commitment to advancing the field and providing exceptional care to his patients. Dr. Skiles graduated with Honors from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, with a degree in Zoology. He got his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1982 where was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Followed by an internship and residency in head and neck surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas from 1982 to 1987. During his illustrious career, he also practiced in the state of Florida. Dr. Skiles is affiliated with several prestigious hospitals in the region, including the University Medical Center, El Paso Children's Hospital, Providence Hospitals-Sierra, and Transmountain Hospital. He currently serves on the staff of six different hospitals.
Dr. Skiles comes to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso after a successful private practice in Dallas, Texas, where he was named a D Magazine top doctor more than once and a Texas Monthly Super Doctor. He joined Baylor Scott and White in 2014. As a dedicated member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Skiles continuously strives to provide the highest standard of care to his patients. His approach to patient care is characterized by the strong relationships he builds with each individual, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs. Dr. Skiles' unwavering commitment to his patients is evident in his unwavering dedication to improving their lives through his expertise and compassionate care.
