Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Christine Kilcline, who serves patients in San Luis Obispo, California.

Practicing the comprehensive scope of dermatologic care, Dr. Kilcline specializes in complex medical and pediatric dermatology. In her capacity as the Owner of Coastal Dermatology + Aesthetics, a comprehensive practice in San Luis Obispo, California, she extends exceptional dermatologic care to children, young adults, and the family members who care for them.

As a board-certified pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Kilcline possesses a profound understanding of the impact skin diseases can have on the physical and social development of children and their families. 

Beyond her expertise in medical dermatology, she excels as a dermatologic surgeon, bringing both skill and an artistic, natural eye to her aesthetic practice. Her training in San Francisco and San Diego has honed her abilities as a dermatologic and laser surgeon, catering to the dermatologic needs of both children and adults with precision and care.

A native of Northern California, Dr. Kilcline spent much of her childhood vacations searching for seashells on the beaches of Morro Bay. She graduated from UC Davis, recognized as an Outstanding Senior by her peers and faculty, followed by cum laude honors from Albany Medical College. She then completed her post-graduate training at UCSF with residencies in pediatrics and U.S. News and World Reports top rated UCSF Dermatology. 

Furthering her training, Dr. Kilcline completed clinical research trials for psoriasis and eczema as well as additional specialized training as a pediatric dermatologist at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. She devoted time as a Volunteer Clinical Faculty member for the Department of Dermatology at UC Davis Medical Center where she was awarded Best Volunteer Clinical Faculty, and served as Treasurer and Vice President of the Northern California Dermatology Society. 

Board certified in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology, Dr. Kilcline is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology. 

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

When Dr. Kilcline is not at work, she can be found cheering on her kids soccer teams, enjoying her husband’s cooking, practicing yoga, learning to paddle board, cheering for the San Francisco Giants…and still searching for seashells. She is elated to call the Central Coast her home.
