Lucius Craig III, MD, FAAOS, an Orthopedic Surgeon with South Carolina Orthopedic Institute

A competent orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Craig III works with patients at the South Carolina Orthopedic Institute, a Department of the Regional Medical Center, in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The team of physicians at South Carolina Orthopedic Institute is comprised of three orthopedic surgeons and two physician assistants, who provide orthopedic services to the Regional Medical Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They specialize in all aspects of orthopedic care, both operative and non operative, including: arthritis management, arthroscopic surgery, bone and joint care, hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery, total joint replacement, and trauma.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Craig III graduated with his medical degree from the Louisiana State University College of Medicine, and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Louisiana Health Sciences Center. Later, he completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

An authority in his field, Dr. Craig III has been the recipient of the Patients' Choice Award (2017, 2016), On-Time Doctor Award (2017, 2016), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016).
