  • Why have I been constipated for over a week?

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and eating a diet high in plant foods such as whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, and low in animal products, meats, and processed foods. Also, some medications (such as opiates) will cause constipation. Follow up with your primary physician to ask if any of your medications may be causing constipation. If the constipation does not resolve soon, I recommend you seek prompt evaluation in an urgent care or ER setting. READ MORE

  • Covid vaccine question?

The answer would depend on your risk factors. I assume you are at some level of risk since you got your first Moderna vaccine in March. Taking your second dose of Moderna now would be your best option. Moderna is advisable over J&J at this time. There is no problem with the longer duration between shots and this longer time frame may actually play in your favor giving you better immunity. Talk with your primary physician for more information. READ MORE

  • Horse wormer paste?

There is a big difference. The livestock version is likely poorer quality and will be much harder to dose. There is no assurance that the amount will be anywhere near what you calculate. Please find a local physician who is willing to prescribe ivermectin in the proper dosage for your weight. There are other treatments for Covid and I would recommend you seek a reputable physician to go over all the current therapeutic options and discuss which ones would be right for you. READ MORE

  • Annual flu shot?

It has been at least 5 months since your Moderna vaccination. We know from studies that immunity begins to wane and by 5 months is quite low. I would recommend getting the flu shot now and then making an appointment for the Covid shot as soon as possible as well. They can also be both given at the same time if you so choose. READ MORE

  • When should a diabetic go to the hospital?

If you are feeling sick in any way, you should seek medical attention. This could be a phone call to your primary physician to let them know how you are feeling. If it is late at night and you can't get through, then you may need to go to an ER for any concerning symptoms such as weakness, lethargy, chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, fainting episodes, fever, severe or unrelenting headache, or nausea and vomiting or diarrhea. These and other signs and symptoms could indicate a serious condition that could only be diagnosed after a proper patient history, exam, and workup was performed in a clinical setting. READ MORE
