There, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel West, followed by his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Holding hospital admitting privileges at Mount Carmel Health System and Fairfield Medical Center, the doctor is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), Dr. Houssein is a member of the American Diabetes Associations, the Endocrine Society, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
