Recognized as an expert in the field of endocrinology, Dr. Houssein practices at Endocrinology Specialists Lancaster in Ohio.

After graduating with his medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania in 1986, Dr. Houssein relocated to the United States. There, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel West, followed by his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Holding hospital admitting privileges at Mount Carmel Health System and Fairfield Medical Center, the doctor is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), Dr. Houssein is a member of the American Diabetes Associations, the Endocrine Society, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
