Dr. Packer is a pediatric urologist whose areas of clinical expertise include congenital anomalies – genitourinary, hypospadias, hydronephrosis, undescended testis, and telemedicine.
He is in practice with Urology for Children, LLC, which is dedicated to providing children in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area with state-of-the-art treatments for urological conditions. He operates out of the offices in Sewell, Camden, Voorhees, New Jersey & Bethlehem, Willow Grove, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A highly respected member of the medical community, Dr. Packer is affiliated with Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Virtua Voorhees Hospital. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at Temple University.
Pertaining to his educational background, Dr. Packer earned his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1979. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in general surgery at Yale – New Haven Hospital in 1981, followed by a residency in urology at Washington University St Louis (1981-1984). Finally, he completed a fellowship in pediatric urology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1985.
With over 36 years of experience in his field, he is board-certified in urology and pediatric urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Professionally, Dr. Packer is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Urological Association, the American Association of Pediatric Urologists, the Society for Fetal Urology, the American Academy of Pediatrics (Fellow), and the American College of Surgeons (Fellow).
Furthermore, he is part of the Harvard Alumni Association, and has served as a Board Member (Medical Services)for International Volunteers in Urology, which provides surgical training to third world countries.
Pediatric urology is a surgical subspecialty of medicine dealing with the disorders of children’s genitourinary systems. Pediatric urologists provide care for both boys and girls ranging from birth to early adult age. The most common problems are those involving disorders of urination, reproductive organs, and testes.
