He went on to complete a residency at the Chicago Medical School Hospitals, a fellowship with the Jackson Memorial Hospital with the University of Miami, and an additional fellowship with the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Additionally, he completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship, as a Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Research Fellow with the Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

Additionally, Dr. Giannotti is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. 

To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Giannotti remains a professional member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology.
