Get to know Surgeon Dr. Giovanni D. Giannotti, who serves patients in Chicago, Illinois.  

Dr. Giannotti is a surgeon serving Chicago and the surrounding communities. He is affiliated with Amita Health, an award-winning health system committed to delivering compassionate care to nearly 6.6 million residents in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. In regards to his education, Dr. Giannotti earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency at the Chicago Medical School Hospitals, a fellowship with the Jackson Memorial Hospital with the University of Miami, and an additional fellowship with the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Additionally, he completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship, as a Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Research Fellow with the Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

Additionally, Dr. Giannotti is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. 

To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Giannotti remains a professional member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology. 

Surgery is a medical specialty that uses operative manual and instrumental techniques on a patient to investigate or treat a pathological condition such as a disease or injury, to help improve bodily function, appearance, or to repair the human body. As a surgeon, Dr. Giannotti specializes in diagnosing, staging, and treating cancer-related symptoms. He will decide if the patient is a candidate for surgery or other cancer treatments based on certain factors such as age, physical fitness, and other possible coexisting medical conditions. 

During his time in the field, Dr. Giannotti has treated thousands of patients.
