Dr. Glen Wainen is a highly skilled and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is dedicated to delivering quality patient care using advanced medical and surgical techniques at Advocare Skylands Orthopedics, where he serves patients in the Hackettstown area. He offers expertise in treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including arthritis, back pain, bone and joint issues, elbow problems, foot and ankle ailments, fractures, hand and wrist problems, hip pain, joint replacement, neck pain, orthopedic spine disorders, osteoporosis, pediatric orthopedics, shoulder and rotator cuff disorders. Dr. Wainen is highly experienced in performing procedures such as hip replacement, knee replacement, hip/femur fractures and dislocations, and arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Many of these procedures can be avoided or delayed by the conservative care given or more minor procedures. Dr. Wainen is one of the few specialists performing Subchondroplastys, a procedure available to many that could delay a knee replacement. He also performs shoulder arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs , but often can avoid shoulder surgery with proper guided conservative care.
In addition to his medical profession, Dr. Wainen enjoys engaging in hobbies like woodworking, water sports, motorcycling, and strength training.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Wainen received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and his Master’s degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he received his medical degree, and then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the same educational venue.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

When he’s not assisting patients with fracture repair and general orthopedics, he also enjoys woodworking, strength training, and motorcycling.
