Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Michael Khair, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Khair is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at The Carrell Clinic in Frisco and Dallas, Texas. His interests and specialty training includes care of the following: sports injuries in recreational and competitive athletes of all ages; cartilage restoration and transplantation in all joints; biologic therapy; shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy; hip, knee and shoulder preservation; ligament injuries; shoulder, knee and hip instability surgery; rotator cuff surgery, shoulder and knee replacement surgery; orthopaedic trauma and fracture care; orthobiologics; stem cell therapy; PRP; and joint restoration and preservation.

Founded in 1921, The Carrell Clinic boasts excellence in orthopaedics and sports medicine that is respected throughout the world. The team of professionals working there are fully trained in general orthopaedics and are board-certified. Alongside his clinical role at The Carrell Clinic, Dr. Khair is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in the local area, including North Central Surgical Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Baylor University Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco, Baylor Sports Surgery Center at the Star, and Medical City Dallas Hospital. He also serves as the Assistant Team Physician for the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks, the Team Physician for the Episcopal School of Dallas and Southern Methodist University, as well as the Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the US National Lacrosse Men’s Senior Team. 

Raised in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Khair went to Bowdoin College where he played lacrosse and graduated Magna Cum Laude with majors in both Chemistry and Philosophy. He subsequently spent time at the Hastings Center in Garrison, New York where he worked for two years studying biomedical ethics prior to completing medical school at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), ranked the best orthopaedic hospital in the country as well as the best orthopaedic residency in the country. After graduating from HSS, he was accepted to Rush University’s prestigious orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship, which is considered to be the best sports fellowship in the country. 

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. 

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the New York County Medical Society. 

Among his numerous accolades, he is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2017, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2018), and Patients’ Choice Award (2016, 2017, 2018). 

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.

In his personal life, Dr. Khair resides in Dallas with his wife, Lauren LaMont, and their sons, Logan and Dylan.
