A Houston native, her interest in science led her to attend college at Rice University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology as well as in Economics. She then went on to receive her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Parkland Hospital/UT Southwestern, one of the busiest obstetrical programs in the country.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
An active member of the Fort Bend Medical Society, Dr. Penkar received an award for Top Performance in Laparoscopic Skills and the Excellence in Colposcopy Award during her chief year of residency. She has also been the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award in 2018.
