His expertise in a wide array of invasive and non-invasive techniques enables him to tailor an optimal treatment plan for each individual patient.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

Having lived most of his life in New York, Dr. Chamas received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from New York Medical College in Valhalla. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He spent a few years away to train and embellish his skills in Baltimore and Birmingham and then decided to come home to New York.

After completing his fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There, he gained extensive experience in complex as well as minimally invasive techniques of spine surgery. He also pioneered minimally invasive approaches to lumbopelvic fixation in the treatment of complex sacral fractures and tumors.

The doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Orthopedic Surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.
