Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Mahshid A. Assadi, who serves patients in New York City, New York.

Dr. Assadi is a board-certified cardiologist who is affiliated with Mount Sinai St. Luke’s & Mount Sinai West in New York. Mount Sinai St. Luke’s is the leading health care provider for West Harlem and Morningside Heights and offers a level 2 trauma center. Mount Sinai West is a full-service medical center with a 24/7 emergency department, proudly serving patients from Midtown and the West Side of Manhattan, New York City, and beyond.

Dr. Assadi is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP). She is also a member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York.

Dr. Assadi earned her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran in 1968. She completed her internship in internal medicine at North General Hospital and her residency in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center. She also completed her fellowship in cardiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, followed by an additional fellowship in cardiology at St Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. As a cardiologist, Dr. Assadi specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the cardiovascular system. 

Dr. Assadi attributes her success to truly enjoying her field and the work she does. Her favorite professional publications are the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Association. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano.
