What is it like being an autism mom? The ups, the downs, and the emotional struggle.

Always explaining...

What fears do you face as you raise your child?

Facing fears of his siblings being left out, getting his accommodations at school or having a teacher that understands, planning for his future.

What do you wish other moms knew about what you go through?

Sometimes I just don't want to be around other moms.  It's not that I don't care - It's that I care too much knowing what their future holds.  Plus, all our children are different, and I don't want to get into the verbal/nonverbal or 'my child is more severe' comparisons.

Do you have other autism mommies who have inspired you?

Yes, I was fortunate to find a mom on facebook in another state that we shared stories with each other because her sons were similar to mine.
