My Diagnosis Story
What symptoms led up to your diagnosis?
1st cancer, I had no symptoms! I went in for a yearly Mammogram! They were minute cancer cells. Get checked every year and when you question anything get checked out! 2nd cancer, I thought I was done with menopause, and I was, but not done with cancer! I was spotting, which I thought was odd and even though it wasn't much it was something. Don't shrug it off. If anything seems off, not "normal," weird in any way, get checked out!
What tests did your doctor do, and what was this experience like?
Biopsy:
Breast cancer was one and done, they knew I had to have surgery and radiation. Caught so early I knew I would survive and radiation was the only treatment I had. It is all overwhelming and weird. Finding a doctor and his/her team that you are happy with matters.
Uterine cancer was much more devastating as I was caught off guard again but this was bad. I had two Biopsies because they couldn't do a simple in-office one. I had surgery and was intibated for the second one.
Upon learning about your diagnosis, what happened next?
1st cancer was radiation
2nd cancer was surgery after 2 biopsies. Lucky for me with the total hysterectomy they found all the cancer contained and I did not have to have Chemotherapy. Which was the only course of treatment I would have had.
No matter what, be your own advocate and pay attention to your body. If in doubt, check it out!
