How has life changed since your diagnosis?
At the beginning it was very hard and changed everything, my future is defined from my past. So now with knowledge and the proper tools to get my immune system back and to eat healthy, everything changes when you're introduced to an autoimmune disease or maybe more.
What are you most passionate about?
Getting myself on the road to a better life and to help people that are struggling with these disease have more knowledge so they don't have to suffer in silence anymore. I love to help people out, I am a Libra lol
What do you hope readers can learn from your health journey?
To have the knowledge and the tools to face everyday challenges, in just to feel as close to normal as possible when fighting a disease no one has a cure for or even knows where it comes from. Too many questions people have when leaving an appointment, and tips just to stay ahead of the game, and any more I learn along the way...
Diagnosis
It all start when I turned nine years old. I started to feel different and my body was different, how do you tell someone at the age you were just introduced to an autoimmune disease? As life progressed my belly was one of the first symptoms I got, next to sinking up the whole 3 story house, yes that big. Fast forward to 24, sitting in the Hotel Dieu in Kingston, Ontario the date was November I believe the 24 or 26th of 1988. Sitting there confused, I ask the Doctor one question that would changed my whole life, "Can I DIE from Crohns/Colitis?" and the answers was devastating. How was I supposed to process this info? The Drs answer was Dietitian and two pamphlets on this disease, holy hell...
Since then I have been trying to fight and to no prevail, knowledge is the answer. Back in 88 we didn't have great access to the internet, until now. I have the information highway at my fingertips. So yes one of the tools to fight diseases is KNOWLEDGE.
