Fibromyalgia

I am a 47 year old big Scottish lass who met her partner in 2008 and just a few months later was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Looking back I am sure I have had this since I was a teenager as I recall a few things happening to me that fit in with symptoms of fibromyalgia. It was diagnosed as depression firstly but I knew there was more to it than just feeling down and I pushed to get a diagnosis. It took some time and during that time I was off sick regularly. I used to work in care and education for additional support needs but unfortunately had to give up this type of work by 2010 and went back to working in an office. I went down to part time hours by 2012 and then had to give up work totally in 2016 after being signed off long term. During this time in 2015 I was also diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and I often partially dislocate my joints which can add additional pain and cause me to pull ligaments and tendons too. But I have to say although I have Fibromyalgia, it doesn't have me! I try to live life fully and even though I need some help to do simple things I try to keep myself smiling and keep going and try and keep busy. I would love to go back to my old life before fibromyalgia but then I think that the June now is stronger in mind and can put up with so much more than before. So I do like my new self.
