More About Me

How has life changed since your diagnosis?

If I am going out to an event I have to proactively research a place I have never been to before. This is to map out how I will enter and maneuver around the facility. My sense of style was cramped a little due to I can not wear heels anymore. I completely cut my hair off however I do love my hair. Working out has almost become impossible however I keep trying.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about my family. Family first! I love cooking and creating recipes. Due to that I have written a cookbook it is the first of a series. I am also a Lupus activist to help raise awareness and funds to find a cure for this dreadful mystery disease.

What do you hope readers can learn from your health journey?

Never to give up and to continue to fight.

Diagnosis

The dermatologist did an emergency biopsy in her office. Once the test came back they diagnosed me with discoid Lupus. After which I had to do a lot of extensive lab work to find if I had systemic Lupus. It was a very scary experience and I was crying in the park lot with my mom on the phone.

Treatments

They found that I did not have systemic Lupus. However my bones and skin are affected. Which there was no real medication for me to take to assist me with my pain. So I went under pain management and I was given cream by the dermatologist to assist me with losing my hair. I still suffer with tremendous pain today and have since cut all of my hair off so that Lupus will have no more to take.
