Lymphoma - Facing The Cancer Diagnosis

Lymphoma - Facing The Cancer Diagnosis
HEALTHJOURNEYS

How has lymphoma affected the relationships in your life?

It was all a blur. Once when I was into my 3rd session of chemo and I looked poorly did I realize, I have cancer, and friends and family meant more to me. Today my relationships are stronger than ever.

Were there any unexpected changes that came from your lymphoma diagnosis?

I couldn't work. Being a hairdresser, I was standing on my feet all day and this proved hard; also had weakness in my legs, confusion and lack of concentration. 6 months after diagnosis I feel quite normal: muscle fatigue better, achy joints easing off apart from big toes, hot flushes are less, am able to go gym, and back to jogging and working full time. I'm more conscious of food, cut down on meat, stack my plate with dark greens like kale, spinach, fruit, nuts and several pints of water, no more processed food at all, very high alkaline diet, the odd 2 glasses of wine at a weekend (which is acidic not good) but why not -- life is about living and not being overly paranoid, relax , keep fit and positive.
