I am a Mum with dermatomyositis, a variation of Muscular Dystrophy and I am a member of Muscular Dystrophy NSW. Trying to look after my kids.

What do you want to share to other MD moms?

The importance of being involved with the MD community and knowing other parents going through a similar thing. Ideally, parents who are a few years ahead of you and helping those with younger kids. Allowing your kids to do what they can for themselves and to be as independent as possible. To help them find a way to do things for themselves. That equipment is your friend and not the enemy. That it's okay to feel bad and struggle and not to bottle those feelings up but to find an outlet. Find time for yourself...even a 10 minute break. Look after yourself.
