Alongside her clinical role, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine.

With her father and grandfather both being physicians, they inspired Dr. Hadjiyane to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated with her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in 1986. Furthering her education, she went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital in 1989, and her fellowship in gastroenterology at Nassau University Medical Center in 1991. She chose the specialty of gastroenterology because it allows her to use both her intellectual experience and physical expertise to treat patients.

A Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), she is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
