Get to know Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon Dr. W. Grant Braly of Houston, Texas.

Dr. Braly is a 1979 graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He then completed his internship at the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado followed by an orthopedic residency at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston Texas. It was during his residency that he developed an interest in foot and ankle. He therefore completed an Orthopedic Surgery Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

With his training completed, he joined Fondren Orthopedic Group in Houston, Texas where he practiced for 31 years prior to his retirement. Dr. Braly is an Emeritus member of the Harris County Medical Society, Harris County Medical Society for Retired Physicians Organization, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, and American College of Surgeons. He served as Clinical Faculty for the residency training Orthopedic Surgery Department at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas-Houston where he also was clinical faculty for the Foot and Ankle Fellowship.

Orthopedic surgeons are devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Some orthopedists are generalists, while others specialize in certain areas of the body, such as the shoulder, hand, foot and ankle, spine, joint replacement, sport injuries, back pain associated with ruptured discs, spinal arthritis, or stenosis, cancer of the bones and muscles, tunnel syndrome, club foot, bow legs, orthopedic trauma, and limb lengthening, to name a few.

Dr. Braly attributes his professional success to being determined in achieving his goals. Now that he is retired he is enjoying being a typical Texas weekend rancher, reading, especially about history, travel, and spending more time with his family.
