Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Richard A. Summa, who serves patients in Bridgeton, Missouri.

A top pulmonologist, Dr. Summa specializes in the treatment of conditions and procedures such as asthma, emphysema, lung cancer, COPD, and interventional bronchoscopy. He can be found on staff at SSM Health DePaul Hospital – St. Louis. 

His medical interests include asthma, bronchitis, chest X-ray, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hoarseness, lung disease, and smoking cessation.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Summa earned his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He pursued his internship at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis, before completing his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at the Naval Hospital – San Diego.

Licensed to practice medicine in Missouri and California, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, internal medicine, and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In practice for over 20 years, Dr. Summa can also be found on staff at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital.
