Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. David M. Turner, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.
A seasoned plastic surgeon committed to the care of his patients, Dr. Turner is an attending physician at Sono Bello. He focuses on developing good communications to ensure he can meet their specific needs as much as possible. He hopes to always bring a kind, loving and respectful manner to all his patients, staff and colleagues.
In just over a decade, Sono Bello has grown into an industry leader with over 70 locations spanning across the United States. Their growth is made possible by an amazing team of board-certified plastic surgeons that are now over 135 strong, as well as their entire team of dedicated Sono Bello employees.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Turner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated with magna cum laude honors. He obtained his medical degree from the Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas.
After successfully completing a rigorous internship and residency in general surgery at North Carolina in Chapel Hill, he went on to complete a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in plastic surgery through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Turner is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Medical and Texas Medical Associations, and the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, where he served as President in 2005 and 2006.
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.
Outside of work, Dr. Turner spends as much time as possible with his family and his grandchildren. He enjoys gardening, music, hunting, golf and serving at his church. He has spent many years volunteering his time to the Christian Children’s Fund and Austin Smile Medical Mission, where he has traveled abroad to Kenya, Mexico, Ecuador and El Salvador to perform cleft lip and palate procedures on under-privileged children.
