Get to know Family Physician Dr. Mark Jefferson Rivera, who serves patients in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Rivera is an urgent care/primary care physician who practices in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. He holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at Beverly Hills Physicians and Surgeons.

Passionate about patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine, Dr. Rivera believes that the best care starts with a strong physician-patient relationship. He offers preventive care, manages common medical conditions, identifies urgent medical issues, and coordinates referrals to specialists as needed.

Educated in the Philippines, Dr. Rivera graduated with his Medical Degree from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 2004. He then went on to perform his internship and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the said establishment from 2004-2005 and from 2005-2006, respectively. 

With over two decades of experience under his belt, Dr. Rivera is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS), and the American Board of Managed Care Medicine (ABMCM).

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Rivera is an esteemed member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the California Academy of Family Physicians, the Los Angeles Medical Association, the American Medical Directors Association, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American College of Physicians, California Chapter.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Involved in various charitable efforts, Dr. Rivera supports organizations such as Catholic Charities USA, the Festival of Children Foundation, the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the Memorial Medical Center Foundation, and the International Medical Corps. Through these endeavors, he aims to make a positive impact on society and help those in need.

When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Rivera actively engages in various pursuits beyond the hospital walls. He finds pleasure in leisurely drives along Benedict Canyon to Mulholland Drive, indulging in extended visits to Westfield Century City, and exploring the offerings of the Original Farmer’s Market during grocery runs. Family outings to the Grove for shopping are a cherished pastime, as is people-watching over coffee on Rodeo Drive and Korean cuisine at buffets in KoreaTown.

Furthermore, Dr. Rivera nurtures hobbies such as cycling, capturing portraits through photography, traveling, and relishing the sounds of his vinyl collection. Car shows and basking in the warmth of the sun also hold special appeal, but above all, he treasures moments spent with loved ones, including playful interactions with his beloved husky.
