She is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine in 2003. Upon relocating to the United States, she served her internship and residency in internal medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Years later, in 2014, she completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center.
With a special interest in research, Dr. Ogbata’s findings have been part of national and international hematology and oncology meetings and also published in several peer-reviewed journals. Her research in lung cancer earned her a Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 2012.

In her personal life, Dr. Ogbata is the proud mother of Kathryn, Kenny, and Danny. When not working, she likes to travel with family, listen to music, as well as play or watch soccer. She coaches preschool soccer when time permits.
