Dr. Morris is a skillful, board-certified advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology specialist. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, with her clinical time spent as faculty for the Advanced Heart Failure Therapy Center at Emory Healthcare. 

The Advanced Heart Failure Therapy Center at Emory Healthcare provides evaluation and management services for adult patients with heart failure across the entire spectrum and at all stages of the disease. From asymptomatic left ventricular failure to progressive congestive heart failure, the physician team is skilled in the most advanced medical interventions to improve heart function, prolong life, avoid unnecessary hospitalizations, and enhance the quality of life.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Morris earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2005. She then went on to complete her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 2008. Subsequently, she came to Emory University to complete fellowships in general cardiology & advanced heart failure and transplant in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Upon completion of her fellowship training, she also joined the faculty of the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute in 2013. 

The mission of the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute (ECCRI) is to conduct clinical and translational research in cardiovascular diseases to enable discoveries in a variety of heart and vascular disorders and to accelerate the implementation of novel technologies and therapies for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.

Among her research efforts, Dr. Morris is studying the importance of non-modifiable risk factors such as race/ethnicity and gender that may contribute to excess disease in high-risk populations and identifying the role of biomarkers of oxidative stress (OS) and endothelial dysfunction in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Finally, her research examines race- and gender-based differences in outcomes after heart transplantation and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation.

Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease & advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
