Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents, while cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. Pediatric cardiologists specialize in diagnosing and treating heart problems in children. In those children who might need heart surgery, pediatric cardiologists work closely with pediatric heart surgeons to determine the best treatments and interventions.
Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Zamora has lectured at local, national, and international conferences, and has conducted clinical research trials approved by the Food and Drug Administration for device closure of atrial and ventricular septal defects, patent ductus arteriosus, and patent foramen ovale. He has also been the principal investigator in a clinical trial for use of the anticoagulation medication, Angiomax, for use during cardiac catheterization.
On a more personal note, Dr. Zamora is fluent in both English and Spanish.
