Academically, Dr. Yusupov attended City University of New York, Queens College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with Honors in 2007. He then went on to attend the New York University College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with High Honors in 2011, graduating in the top ten percent of his class. Following graduation from dental school, he was accepted into the six-year oral and maxillofacial surgical residency training program at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center/Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.
After obtaining his medical degree in 2014 from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Yusupov completed a one-year general surgery training program at SUNY Downstate, exposing him to a wide variety of cases, from trauma and critical care management to cosmetic plastic surgery. Next, he pursued subspecialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He was appointed Chief Resident at Kings County Hospital Center from July 2016 through June 2017, during which time he was awarded Resident of the Year by his colleagues. His training at Kings County included extensive facial trauma reconstruction, surgical management of dentofacial deformity, dentoalveolar surgery, and benign maxillofacial pathology.
Upon the completion of his residency, Dr. Yusupov went on to train with some of the leaders in the field of head and neck oncologic surgery, facial plastic, and reconstructive surgery, and skull base surgery at the prestigious New York Head and Neck Institute at Lenox Hill Hospital. In his fellowship, he had the privilege of working closely with the past President of the American Head and Neck as well as American Skull Base societies. Additionally, he trained with one of the founding fathers of modern orthognathic surgery and other leaders in surgical subspecialties of the head, face, and neck.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). The AAOMS is the non-profit professional association serving the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery, the surgical arm of dentistry.
