Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Robert V. Kinoian, who serves patients in Paramus, New Jersey.

Dr. Kinoian is recognized by the State of New Jersey as a specialist in orthodontics & dentofacial orthopedics, treating children, teenagers, and adults. 

In private practice in Paramus, he has provided patients with lasting solutions for achieving a healthier, more beautiful smile, from preventive phase one early treatment for children, to Invisalign® options for adults. 

“Spending time getting to know our patients and their families over the course of their treatments and helping people live healthier, happier lives with the confidence of a straighter, more attractive smile is why I’ve enjoyed every day of almost 25 years as an orthodontist” he says. 

Receiving an Ivy League education, Dr. Kinoian received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College at Columbia University in New York where he majored in music. He has studied classical guitar with many of the world’s most renowned classical guitarists, including the great Maestro Andres Segovia. He has also performed on the great stages of Carnegie Recital Hall, New York’s Town Hall, and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.  

His Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree was conferred by Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dental Medicine where his class rank was #1 in each of his four years of study. He also attained his Certificate in Orthodontics from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where he served as class president throughout his 24 month program.

On a mission to provide conservative and effective orthodontic options, Dr. Kinoian is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Bergen County Dental Association.  

Additionally, he is an active member of the Armenian American Health Professionals Organization where he acts as their unofficial photographer and has given several lectures on orthodontics including at their 2009 World Congress. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Armenian Center at Columbia University for over a decade.

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists are responsible for identifying problems with the positioning of a patient’s teeth and with their oral development. They utilize the most advanced procedures and equipment available to ensure that every patient achieves a healthy and beautiful smile.

For the 6th consecutive year, Dr. Kinoian has been selected by a vote of his peers to be included in the listings of TopDentists.

Widowed after his wife’s passing, from an almost 10 year struggle with breast cancer, he established The MaryAnn Kinoian Memorial Scholarship Fund. In each Paramus middle school and elementary school and at the Hovnanian School in New Milford, awards and scholarship monies are given for outstanding achievement in art and in music. The fund has given over $10,000 to local children to encourage their artistic pursuits.

In his personal life, Dr. Kinoian has a daughter who is currently teaching Literature and English in Tenafly after completing her Master’s degree in Education from Columbia University Teachers College.
