In affiliation with Rush Health, she provides her expertise at the RUSH Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine, RUSH Family Birth Center in Chicago, and RUSH Family Birth Center in Aurora. Additionally, she holds the position of Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at Rush University Medical Center.

Following the completion of her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from A. T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981, Dr. Melone went on to further her training. She performed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in 1985, followed by her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1990.

Dual board certified in obstetrics and gynecology & maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Melone is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Melone is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis.
