After earning his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1998, Dr. Sethuraman went on to complete his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopedics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Furthering his career, he then became board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Additionally, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Association of Ethical Spine Surgeons, the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, and the Thomas Jefferson Alumni Association.
Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
