Encompassing a broad educational background, Dr. Roper attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was Phi Beta Kappa, and received her undergraduate degree from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. She earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, and then went on to serve her internship in internal medicine at the same educational venue.

Wanting to further her training, she completed her residency in dermatology at Emory University, serving as Chief Resident of the Department of Dermatology. She also completed a research fellowship year in dermatology at Emory University, after receiving the prestigious Dermatology Foundation Research Award sponsored by Revlon.

Dedicated to improving the healthcare needs of dermatology patients, Dr. Roper is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she holds membership in a number of professional organizations, including the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Florida Society of Dermatology, and the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons (of which she is a past President, Board Member, and Surgeon of the Year for 2006).

Throughout her fruitful career, Dr. Roper has graciously donated her time as a Volunteer Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Dermatology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa, Florida & the James Haley VA Hospital Dermatology Clinic for over 20 years, retiring in 2009 from her volunteer duties.
