Throughout his academic career, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1998, before completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2001. He then returned to the University of Utah to complete his fellowship in pulmonary disease & critical care medicine in 2003. Finally, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah School of Business in 2012.
