After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1988, Dr. Firestone went on to earn his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1992. Thereafter, he completed his surgical residency training at The Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where he served as Chief Resident.
In an attempt to enhance his professional development, he became board-certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, whose mission is to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by the advancement of the art and science of podiatric surgery. He also attained certification in sports medicine.
A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, Dr. Firestone was recognized by his peers and colleagues in the Washingtonian Magazine as one of DC’s ‘Top Sports Medicine Providers’ and as a ‘Top DC Podiatrist’. He was also recognized by his fellow runners as ‘Best Doctor’ by Run Washington Magazine.

In his personal life, he and his wife, Sheryl, live in Montgomery County with their three children.
