    Despite the lack of a headache you are describing an ophthalmic migraine with temporary "blind spots" known as scotoma and scintillating scotoma, the "shaky" areas around the scotoma. Look up Ophthalmic migraine images on google and you will see images much as you describe. The vascular spasm, accompanied by your symptoms, and subsequent dilation which accompanies the resolution of your symptoms occurs in the occipital portion of the brain. The area involved is not large enough to cause enough increased blood volume to produce the pounding headache associated with classic migraine. In either condition mechanism of spasm followed by dilation of blood vessels is the same, and symptoms are self limited, and there is rarely any structural damage. READ MORE

Dr. Panzo participated in research studies on Heidelbergs Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) which is the most sensitive method of glaucoma detection available. He introduced Microincisional Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) to glaucoma patients undergoing Cataract Surgery in Lake County and was the first to implant the Cypass Shunt MIG Procedure. He has extensive experience with all glaucoma procedures as well as the most minimally invasive glaucoma Xen Shunt.

Dr. Panzo is a highly-trained ophthalmologist with extensive experience in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He is a Partner at Mid Florida Eye Center, operating out of offices in Leesburg, Mount Dora, Summerfield, and Wildwood, Florida.

As a cataract specialist, he performed the first Phacoemulsification small incisional and Femto Laser cataract surgeries in Lake county. He has been involved in the initial research studies for the most commonly used presbyopia and astigmatism correcting cataract surgery implants that allow patients the most freedom from glasses. 

As a glaucoma specialist, Dr. Panzo was amongst the earliest to advance SLT laser therapy to safely reduce inner eye pressure.  Dr Panzo  and Dr. Jeffrey Baumann opened the area’s first accredited outpatient surgery center dedicated for eyes in Mount Dora, (spotlighted among the best in the nation by Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today), and in 2008, opened the first eye surgery facility in The Villages.

Academically, Dr. Panzo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and his medical degree from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia in 1979. He went on to complete his medical internship and serve his residency in ophthalmology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio where he served as Chief Resident. His training  accomplishments also include a fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery at the University of Iowa.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

 Dr. Panzo has served as Chief of Surgical Staff at Leesburg and Stonecrest Ambulatory Surgical Centers.
