Get to know Family Physician Dr. Latonya James, who serves patients in West Point, Georgia.

Specializing in comprehensive health care for people of all ages, Dr. James is noted for her expertise in general family medicine. She can be found on staff at Emory at West Point, and remains affiliated with Wellstar Cobb Hospital and Wellstar Paulding Hospital in Georgia. 

Having been in practice for over two decades, her special interests include hypertension, diabetes management, as well as anxiety and depression management.

Regarding her educational background, Dr. James completed her understudies studies at Springhill College and graduated with her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1998. Upon graduation, she continued her education by completing a residency in family medicine at the Louisiana State University in 2001.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM  is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine in its subspecialties. It certifies family physicians who are highly skilled and effective at improving the health of their patients, their families, and their communities.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. James is a fan of travel, arts, and cultural activities. She also enjoys listening to live outdoor music, viewing museum exhibits, as well as spending time with family and friends.
